It doesn’t look like Hugh Jackman is the only one who is going to retire for the X-Men franchise. Wolverine 3 is going to be his last time in the role of Logan, and it seems like it might also be Patrick Stewart’s last time playing Professor X.
While speaking to a group of reporters about the film recently, Stewart himself said that this will most likely be his final X-Men movie. Here’s the direct quote from the actor thanks to itv:
“I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me. But the thing about science fiction and fantasy is that you can never, ever say it’s the end, it’s over.”
He still leaves the door open because you never know what will happen, but it does sound like he’s ready to be done with it. Stewart has played Professor Xavier on and off since X-Men was released in 2000. He goes on to say that this will be “a very different Charles Xavier… nothing like the Charles Xavier you’ve seen in the past.”
