BUT WHY SNAP? Snapchat new update attracts fierce criticism

Snapchat says it was ready for the huge outcry from users after this update and the response was expected, but it believes there will be ‘substantial long-term benefits to our business’..

Snapchat users are very furious about the huge change that has been done on the app after the messaging app company released a new update. Last year Snapchat promised a huge redesign of it’s app and it seems the time is finally here, but users are not pleased, as the new update as attracted a heavy criticism on social media, users believe this new design to be confusing.

Users on social media are currently pouring out their feelings, one big part of the new update that has drawn criticism surrounds the redesign of the old Stories page, which you used to be able to access by swiping left on the main camera screen.

The new update is a different because users now have to swipe right on the camera section to access their friends and family stories, then if you swipe left you would get stories from publishers and creators. The Company has called the new Stories the “Dynamic Friends page” as it would show your friends to you based on how well you engage with them.

“You can think of it as a more sophisticated Best Friends algorithm that makes it easier to find the friends you want to talk to, when you want to talk to them,” the company said.

“We’ve all had the frustrating experience of scrolling endlessly through our Chats to find the right person – now your Friends will be listed in the order that you want to talk to them. It might take a little while for the Friends page to learn the best way to display your Friends, but the results are worth it.”
